3. SCENARIO QUESTIONS
  • 3.1 There is a long line of customers all waiting for service and you are the only mechanic on duty, how do you handle this situation?
    • If there is a long line of customers and I’m the only mechanic on duty, the first thing I would do is stay calm .Acknowledge each customer and let them know there will be a wait so they understand the situation. Then I would prioritize the work based on the order of request.
3.2 A customer is not happy with the labor fee and does not want to pay for it. Your colleague has already explained that this fee is mandatory, but they still argue the charge. What would you do?
    • If a customer is upset about the labor fee, I would remain calm and professional while speaking with them. First, I would listen to their concerns so they feel heard and understand exactly why they’re upset. Then I would politely explain again that the labor fee is part of the standard pricing for the work completed and that it helps cover the time and effort required to repair their vehicle.

I would try to keep the conversation respectful and focus on clearing up any misunderstandings about the charges. If they continue to argue or the situation begins to escalate, I would involve a supervisor or manager so the issue can be handled properly. My goal would be to keep the situation professional, avoid unnecessary conflict, and ensure the customer understands the policy while still feeling respected.
3.3 A customer is being disrespectful towards one of your colleagues and starts to threaten them. What would you do?
    • If a customer began being disrespectful and threatening toward one of my colleagues, my first priority would be making sure the situation doesn’t escalate further. I would step in calmly and try to de-escalate the situation by asking the customer to be respectful so we can address the issue properly.

I would support my coworker and make it clear that threatening behavior isn’t acceptable. If the customer continues to act aggressively, I would contact a supervisor or manager immediately so they can handle the situation according to company policy. If necessary, security or the appropriate authorities would be involved to ensure everyone’s safety. My goal would be to protect my coworker, keep the environment safe, and handle the situation in a professional and controlled manner.
