3. SCENARIO QUESTIONS
  • 3.1 There is a long line of customers all waiting for service and you are the only mechanic on duty, how do you handle this situation?
    • I would stay calm and professional and inform all customers that I am currently the only mechanic available. I would prioritize jobs based on urgency, such as emergency repairs or safety-related issues. I would clearly communicate realistic waiting times so customers know what to expect. I would work efficiently without rushing or compromising quality and, if possible, contact a supervisor to request backup. Keeping customers informed and treated fairly would be my top priority.
    3.2 A customer is not happy with the labor fee and does not want to pay for it. Your colleague has already explained that this fee is mandatory, but they still argue the charge. What would you do?
    • I would remain calm and respectful and restate the policy clearly and professionally. I would explain what the labor fee covers and why it is required. If the customer continued to argue, I would avoid escalating the situation and refer the matter to a supervisor or manager. I would not argue back or become rude, and I would ensure the situation is handled according to company policy.
    3.3 A customer is being disrespectful towards one of your colleagues and starts to threaten them. What would you do?
    • I would step in professionally and place myself between the customer and my colleague to de-escalate the situation. I would ask the customer to calm down and remind them that threatening behavior is not tolerated.
