3. SCENARIO QUESTIONS
- 3.1 There is a long line of customers all waiting for service and you are the only mechanic on duty, how do you handle this situation?
- In that situation, I would stay calm and I would greet each customer respectfully and let them know there may be a short wait, while assuring them that I will work through the line as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality. I would prioritize each and all smaller or quicker jobs as soon as possible and as precise as possible, to keep the line moving, while communicating clearly with customers so they know their vehicle will be taken care of.
- I would remain polite and professional, letting the customer know that the labor fee is mandatory and a part of our standard policy. If the customer continues to argue, I would not escalate the situation but instead offer to call over a Senior mechanic or HR manager to further explain the situation to the customer.
- I would step in calmly and try to de-escalate the situation by asking the customer to calm down and reminding them we are here to help. If the disrespect continues, I would prioritize the safety of my colleague and inform the customer that such behavior is not acceptable in Bayview Auto Center. If the threats escalate further, I would contact 911 for lawful assistance if necessary, while ensuring my colleague feels supported and safe.
