  • I am Chuck Self and I was born in South Carolina, USA to Kay Self and Richard Self. Growing up I had a thing for working on anything that interested me whether it would be electronics or cars. While I was growing up my father showed me how to work on classic vehicles and such as his old Vapid Ellie. Eventually when I was 17, I started working for Carona Automotive as a mechanic. I worked at Carona for a few years before moving to Tennessee with my former partner, where I worked as a Mechanic working on Heavy Equipment such as Bull Dozers, Backhoe’s, and any Miscellaneous project that came in.

2. EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• 2.1 Why do you want to work at Bayview Auto Center? (Minimum 50 words):
  • I want to be a mechanic at Bayview Auto Center because I have had previous experience working on cars when I lived in Tennessee and South Carolina. I feel that it is right for me to put my skills to use at Bayview Auto Center and that I would be a good fit for the position.
  2.2 Why should we hire you? (Minimum 100 words):
  • The reason why I should be hired at Bayview auto Center is that I have great problem-solving skills that allow me to figure out what issues a vehicle is having. One example of my problem-solving skills is determining where an oil leak is coming from this can be from a faulty Valve cover gasket, oil pan seal, or the plastic housing for the oil filter housing is cracked. also have experience working with Electric, Gas, and Diesel vehicles. I am usually quick to find issues with vehicle electrical systems as well I feel that I would be a great fit and addition to the team at Bayview Auto Center.

3. SCENARIO QUESTIONS

• 3.1 There is a long line of customers all waiting for service and you are the only mechanic on duty, how do you handle this situation?
  • I would radio in to see if there is anyone else on around to clock in. If not, then work on the people that came in first and make my way down the line.
  3.2 A customer is not happy with the labor fee and does not want to pay for it. Your colleague has already explained that this fee is mandatory, but they still argue the charge. What would you do?
  • I would try to contact the manager to see if there is a way to waive the fee or give a discount to make the customer happy.
  3.3 A customer is being disrespectful towards one of your colleagues and starts to threaten them. What would you do?
  • If the customer is being disrespectful and threating a colleagues, then I would ask them to leave. I would also walk away and contact Law Enforcement if the doesn't leave the property or tries to escalate the situation further.
